How Should You Care for Your Mouth? 7 Tips for Your Daily Routine

Diş fırçaları

Healthy teeth and gums are protected by simple habits repeated every day. The tips below will guide you as you build your daily oral care routine.

1. Brush twice a day for two minutes

Brush for at least two minutes in the morning and before bed with fluoride toothpaste. Hold the brush at about a 45-degree angle to the gumline and use small circular movements; don’t miss the inner, outer and chewing surfaces.

2. Choose the right toothbrush

Choose a brush with soft or medium bristles. Hard brushes and pressing too hard can damage the gums. Replace your brush about every 3 months or when the bristles splay.

3. Don’t forget between your teeth

A toothbrush cannot fully reach between the teeth. Using floss or an interdental brush once a day helps prevent decay between the teeth and gum inflammation.

4. Clean your tongue

Bacteria on the tongue are a major cause of bad breath. Gently clean your tongue after brushing.

5. Watch your diet

Limit sugary and acidic foods and drinks, and avoid frequent snacking throughout the day. Drink plenty of water; it cleans the mouth and prevents dryness.

6. Use mouthwash as a complement

Mouthwash does not replace brushing and flossing; it can be used as a complement on your dentist’s advice.

7. Attend regular check-ups

Seeing your dentist at least twice a year, with professional cleaning when needed, helps catch problems early.

If you are having orthodontic treatment with braces or aligners, remember to ask your dentist for personalised oral care advice.
